Career Guidance

The Carlton Academy is passionate about giving all our students the very best possible careers education, information, advice and guidance to enable good decision making for their futures.  We believe that students should have the opportunity to see the world of work: from within their curriculum; by providing real examples of work-based activity and being able to speak to people from across a diverse range of work and training settings.

Our careers programme is delivered in numerous ways to ensure it is diverse, collaborative and rich with expertise from across the careers spectrum.  This includes our own highly trained and experienced in-house staff; impartial career guidance professionals from within the Redhill Academy Trust; and our extended network of partners and memberships (see below).  We also use accessible learning tools such as the unifrog platform for careers related learning and our PSHE curriculum to give timely and relevant career-related information and opportunities to our students.

Please find tailored information and resources for key audiences (Alumni, Employers, Parents/Carers, Students, Teachers etc.) on the tabs to the left of this webpage.

The New Career Development Framework (2021)

The Career Development Institute has identified the six career development skills that people need to have positive careers.  These six skills are the learning areas that career development programmes and interventions should focus on.  The Carlton Academy uses the New Career Development Framework to help design and implement our careers programme.

Gatsby Benchmarks

The Carlton Academy uses the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks to structure, implement and evaluate the careers programme offered to students.

The Carlton Academy subscribes to the unifrog platform which enables students to record their career-related learning activities and encounters as well as explore their post-16 and post-18 options and labour market information.
